Many quartz manufacturers market engineered quartz as “etch-proof,” but real-world use can tell a more nuanced story. In some cases, quartz surfaces develop dull spots or etch-like marks after exposure to acidic substances or harsh cleaners — especially on lighter colors and polished finishes. Not all quartz behaves the same. If dull rings or cloudy areas don’t clean off, etching may be part of the issue.

Mostly Non-Porous
